Indore IDR Airport was built in the year 1945 to cater to Indore and its nearby areas in Madhya Pradesh. The airport is named after Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar. This is also among the busiest airports in MP and is situated about 8 kilometres from the city centre. In the list of the busiest airports in the country, IDR Airport is in the 20th spot. The expansion of the runway happened in 1996, and subsequently, the IDR Airport started with international Indore airport flights, too.
