The town of Baga or more accurately, Baga Beach is the only urbanized stretch of sand on the coast of the Indian state of Goa. It lies about 18 kilometres (11 miles) northeast of Panjim (Panaji), the capital city of Goa.
Baga Beach Goa has a plethora of dining restaurants, shacks, Baga Beach nightlife and bars used by both tourists and locals alike for partying all night long. The town is visited by thousands of foreign visitors annually as well as local domestic tourists during the holiday season. It is most famous for its carnival atmosphere and boasts of the most number of shacks, bars and pubs in Goa. Most of these are located along the Baga beachfront facing Calangute Beach. The establishments typically feature live bands or DJs playing loud music by the poolside or terraces until late into the night.
Nightlife at Baga consists mainly of various parties taking place every night (and all night) in different Baga Beach resorts and on rented houseboats on River Mandovi that flow into the Arabian Sea approximately 2 kilometres (1 mile) south-west of this beach stretch. These “parties” include trance music with psychedelic effects, laser shows and artificial fog.
