The total trekking distance is around 12 km, and the highest point of the trek is Kedarkantha peak which is at an altitude of 3800 m. The trek usually takes about four days, but it can be extended for longer depending on the preferences of the trekker.

  • Finally, you will reach the summit of Kedarkantha, which stands at a height of 12,500 feet. The summit offers stunning views of the majestic Himalayan Range. You can also get a 360-degree view of the surrounding valleys.

  • By Road: The Kedarkantha trek begins at the Kedarkantha Base Camp, which is located at an altitude of around 8,500 feet. The best way to reach the base camp is by road, and there are several routes you can take depending on your starting point. You can then take a local bus to the Sankri village (the starting point for the trek) from Dehradun. The journey from Dehradun to Sankri usually takes about 7-8 hours. Once you reach the Sankri village, you will begin your Kedarkantha trek. From the village, it is a 6-day trek to reach the summit at Kedarkantha. The trek is suitable for all levels of trekkers and you will be able to take in some of the most stunning mountain views. You will also be able to explore lush forests, meadows and open fields as well as pass some snow-covered stretches.
  • By Air: With a distance of 225 km, the Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest to the Kedarkantha Trek. Travellers can opt for several options such as shared or private taxis from the airport itself to reach the desired destination. 
  • By Train: Dehradun Railway Station is the nearest to Kedarkantha Trek with a distance of 208 km. Both Nandadevi Express and Dehradun Express are commonly available at Dehradun station.
