When the pants from Maharashtra came to settle at Berinag, as mentioned by the locals, they witnessed a large number of snakes of different colours and species coiled together. Then after this event, during the 14th century, they built a snake temple – Bernag\u2019s Nag Devta Temple there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is mentioned in the holy books that there was a poisonous Naga living in the Yamuna Nagar name \u2018Kalinag\u2019 (Kaliya), in Vrindavan which was defeated by Lord Krishna. The Kalinag recognized the power and greatness of Lord Krishna and surrendered. Then, Lord Krishna ordered Kalinag to leave the Yamuna river forever and go somewhere else. Then, Kalinag left the Yamuna river and went on to reside in the region of Berinag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/div>\r\n
