• Also, battery cells are now permitted in electrical/electronic items, but loose battery cells / dry cells are not.

Cabin Baggage Allowance

Vistara Airlines offer free hand baggage or carry-on baggage allowances that passengers must adhere to. Vistara baggage allowance policy applies to all operated flights. See below for Vistara’s hand baggage allowance for both domestic and international travel.

Important points to remember:

• Vistara guests are allowed one piece of hand baggage, and the size (dimension) should not exceed 55cm (22 inches) x 40cm (16 inches) x 20cm (8 inches).
• As per Vistara policy, children flying on the flights are entitled to the same cabin baggage allowance as adults for each class.
• Also, if you are carrying carrycots or fully collapsible pushchairs/strollers, they must be counted as checked-in baggage.
• Along with your one piece of hand baggage, you may be permitted to carry a Ladies handbag/Overcoat or wrap/Camera or binoculars/Reading material for the flight/Infant’s feeding aids for consumption during the flight/Walking stick/Umbrella (folding type)/Medicines required during flight like asthma inhaler/Laptop.
• You are not allowed to carry unsuitable bags that are not fit for carriage due to their weight, size, or nature, cannot fit under the seat or be stowed in the overhead compartment, or are unsuitably packed.
• Additionally, you can purchase hand baggage at the check-in counters, airport counters, or through the Customer Service Centre. The cost is INR 240 per kg (inclusive of taxes) for travel within India and USD 8 per kg for travel to Dhaka, Doha, Dubai, Frankfurt, London, Maldives, Sharjah, and Paris. If your bag weight is more than the free hand baggage allowance limit (up to a total of 12kg), there will be an additional charge for each kg. However, if you’re flying with an Economy Lite ticket on Airlines, the maximum weight allowed for hand baggage is 7kg. You are not eligible for an additional hand baggage allowance.

CV Gold and Platinum members can enjoy a complimentary Carry-On Plus service, which allows them to carry 12 kg as Hand Baggage, regardless of the cabin/fare booked. This service is available for travel within India. 

Checked Baggage Allowance

As per Vistara, checked baggage allowance for passengers is based on the size and specifications of hand baggage. If your baggage exceeds these dimensions, it will need to be checked in. The maximum weight for a single piece of luggage in all cabin classes is 32 kg.

Baggage allowance for travel within India (per customer except for infants) is as follows:

Check-in baggage allowance for travel to Bangkok, Colombo, Dhaka, Doha, Dubai, Sharjah, and Singapore

Check-in baggage allowance for travel to Kathmandu 

Check-in baggage allowance for travel to London, Frankfurt and Paris

Important points to remember:

• Passengers are allowed to bring one piece of luggage weighing up to 32 kg in all cabin classes. The total length, width and height of the bag cannot exceed 62 inches or 158 cm.
• Silver, Gold and Platinum members are entitled to an increased weight limit for domestic and international flights at different levels of CV membership. For example, Silver members are given an extra 5kg, Gold members get 10kg more, and Platinum members receive a total limit of 15kg more than the average flyer.
• CV Silver, Gold and Platinum members who fly economy light fares in India receive an additional baggage allowance.

Interline Baggage Allowance

Vistara provides free baggage allowance to customers forming a relationship between Vistara and an interline/codeshare partner/other airlines. This allows customers to pack more and reduces the hassle of checking luggage at various points.

Important points to Remember:

• Customers travelling with Vistara with domestic and international tickets are allowed the same baggage allowance (within 48 hours).
• Passengers travelling to and from international destinations with interline/codeshare partners on Vistara can claim baggage allowance equivalent to their international tickets. This offer is applicable on all connections within 24 hours. If you have a connecting flight after 24 hours, the baggage allowance for the relevant area will apply as per your ticket, even if the rest of your journey is entirely separate.

Vistara Excess Baggage

You will be charged an excess baggage fee for any baggage that exceeds the allowance allotted to your fare category.

• Vistara Flights charges a comparable amount in the local currency.
• An additional USD 220 per piece is charged for customers travelling to and from London and Frankfurt.
• When travelling to Dubai, note an additional fee for purchasing extra baggage at the airport, and the same amount can be taken in the local currency.
• As per Vistara baggage allowance policy, you can purchase additional baggage through the ‘Manage my booking’ section at a discounted rate when you book your tickets online or have already booked your tickets.

Carriage Of “Kirpan” By Sikh Passengers

As per Indian Law, Sikhism is a major religion, and the Kirpan is an important religious symbol. A passenger can carry the Kirpan on flights between India and other countries, and Sikh passengers are allowed to carry a ‘Kirpan’ with a blade length of 6 inches or less while in India. The total maximum length of the Kirpan is 9 inches, but the blade itself must not exceed 6 inches.

Carriage Of Arms and Ammunition

Firearms and ammunition are not allowed in hand baggage, and they can be accepted in checked baggage, as long as they are unloaded, have the safety catch on, and are packed securely in a hard-sided container. Ammunition must also comply with Dangerous Goods Regulations of ICAO/ IATA, BCAS, and DGCA or the equivalent regulations of other authorities involved in the transit or destination.

There are specific conditions that must be met to carry firearms and ammunition. If you’re travelling with a licensed weapon or ammunition, you must declare it to Vistara and provide the following documents:

• Valid Licence or authorisation issued by the competent authority (in original)
• Valid government ID proof (actual)
• Written permission from Indian regulator (original)

Important Note: Black powder and percussion caps are not allowed in either hand baggage or checked-in baggage.

Banned Items

Passengers are not allowed to carry certain items with them on-board Vistara flights as hand baggage or check-in baggage. The list below is not exhaustive, and passengers must check the prevailing rules before travelling.

• Lighters, scissors-metal with pointed tips, realistic replicas of toy weapons are all examples of items that are prohibited. (deeply refrigerated, flammable, non-flammable and poisonous) items can be dangerous if carried on a plane.
• There are a variety of sharp objects that are not allowed in carry-on or checked bags. This includes box cutters, ice axes/ice picks, knives (excluding round-bladed, butter, and plastic cutlery), meat cleavers, razor-type blades such as box cutters, utility knives, and razor blades not in a cartridge. However, safety razors are allowed.
• Some of the guns and firearms include ammunition, compressed air guns, BB guns, firearms, pellet guns, realistic replicas of weapons, parts of guns and firearms, starter pistols. And tools like axes, crowbars, cattle prods, hammers, drills, screwdrivers, saws, tools (including but not limited to wrenches and pliers), wrenches and pliers.
• Other items include martial arts/self-defence items, explosive materials, compressed gases, flammable items: replicas of incendiaries, oxidising materials (such as bleaching powder, peroxides), poisonous and infectious substances, radioactive materials, and corrosives.
• Along with that, you are not allowed to carry briefcases and attaché cases with installed alarm devices.

Vistara Lost, Damaged or Delayed Baggage

Lost or Delayed Baggage: Baggage delivery is a top priority for Vistara. If your baggage doesn’t arrive for some reason, you can speak with a Vistara representative at the arrivals hall. They’ll take down all the details and file a report. You’ll be given a reference number to track the progress of your lost baggage. If you are an international traveller and cannot locate your checked baggage on arrival, you can inform the Vistara personnel in the arrivals hall. You will then receive a file reference number that you can use to check the status of your delayed baggage online.

Damaged Baggage: The airline is not responsible for any damage to your baggage, including but not limited to:

• Damage due to overpacking or items being too large/heavy for the bag
• Damage to fragile or perishable items
• Baggage with manufacturing defects
