Indigo Airlines Baggage Allowance: How Much You Can Carry On Board
Posted on Friday, February 11th, 2022 by Navneet Kaur 6 comments
Have you ever wondered whether you have more baggage allowances when travelling on an international flight or a domestic one? It’s common for people to assume that international flights offer higher maximums for checked luggage and carry-ons because of the longer duration. The truth is that the rules are precisely the same for both: each passenger is allowed to bring one personal item and one carry-on. Baggage allowances can vary widely. As a result, it’s essential to understand what you’re allowed to bring on the plane and how much is permitted.
The amount of baggage an airline will allow for a particular flight depends on the class you are flying. An airline’s baggage allowance can confuse customers, but it is essential to the overall travel experience. Indigo Airlines baggage allowance is specific regarding the weight and size of the bags that each traveller can bring on board. Here, we’ll explain what does and does not count as a piece of luggage when travelling with an Indigo airline.
IndiGo Airlines
One of the most trusted names in the aviation industry, IndiGo Airlines is a low-cost carrier based in Gurgaon. The airline was founded in 2005 by Rahul Bhatia and Rakesh Gangwal and has consistently grown ever since. India’s largest domestic airline, IndiGo has played a key role in changing the face of air travel in India. IndiGo prides itself on customer service, affordability, and an extensive route network.
IndiGo Airlines Baggage Allowance
IndiGo has simplified the check-in process for its passengers with its new web check-in facility, which allows customers to check-in online without standing in long queues to get their boarding passes. However, the next step is essential and must be followed precisely to ensure a smooth flight.
As per Indigo Airlines baggage allowance policies, passengers can take one checked bag and one personal item with them, and equipment and clothing do not count as separate items. Also, your carry-on baggage should fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.

In any case, when the baggage exceeds the weight allowed for the free allowance, the passenger is charged a uniform rate of ₹250 per kg, irrespective of the type of baggage, carry-on or checked in. However, it has been fixed at ₹525 per kg of extra baggage for international flights. In addition to the flat rate, Rs 1500 is charged if the luggage is more than 5 kg and weighs more than 10 kg.
